- من أنا؟ - Who am I?
Marhaban! مرحباً
My name is Saa'emah. I am an Arabic student and teacher. I work and support Arabic Departments in Birmingham based schools who teach Arabic as a Modern Foreign Language according to the Edexcel GCSE Curriculum. So far, my Arabic journey has lasted me 17 years... It's the most beautiful language I have ever come to know of.
Yes, I love Arabic and believe me, its not hard to learn. Anything can be achieved with optimism and constant striving. It takes time and ambition to master it and plenty of effort.
One of the best ways to learn Arabic is to teach yourselves, as well as others, the knowledge you have obtained through explanation, and also to immerse yourselves around Arab people and linguists and practice speaking with them.
The best books are those from the Arabic countries, from my experience, as well as books of hadeeth (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad saw), a man of sheer eloquence and wisdom.
Of course you need your own teacher or teachers, and I must admit one-to-one learning works best rather than to go to a class. The less english your teacher speaks, the better you will learn. Learning Arabic from just reading a book will never suffice the Arabic student. Personally, I have resorted to learning with qualified and experienced Egyptian linguists online via Skype, which has really boosted my level of fluency and eloquence. As for you guys who can travel to the likes of Cairo to study in full immersion, then really, I don't know what you are waiting for! Take the opprotunity while it lasts.
So I've set up this space to share my resources with all you Arabic pundits and teachers and to aid your learning and teaching.
Learning Arabic is a cracking journey that is well worth taking. Just remember to practice your Arabic to make it perfect.....
Best Wishes... Saa'emah صائمة
